Ride Report - Sat. May 23, 2020 - Ein Carmel Away Ride - By Frances
Sea, sun and sand are the ingredients of a million$ holiday, aren't they? In Covid-19 times we can enjoy the simple pleasures that we did not have a couple of weeks' ago.
A host of Cyclenixers, including some faces not seen in a while and a newcomer, Ronit, set off in blissfully cool weather to traverse the beaches along the Carmel coast. 24km from Ein Carmel, past Habonim, Nachsholim, Dor and back again.
Blue sky and water (of course, no skydivers or coffee....), lovely views and good company. Uri made sure we all stayed on the path and did not trample the wildflowers and undergrowth. We did trudge through a bit of sand - but what is a bit of sand in your shoes??
Absent friends were there in spirit - no dipping in the sea as our waterbaby (Ingride) wasn't there to encourage it!!
Some of us made up the the no coffee by stopping on the way home to savour an ice cream. So all those calories we burnt off....
In the spirit of Under the Boardwalk (with a lot of poetic licence)
Oh when the sun beats down and burns our pedals
And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire proof
On the cycle trail, down by the sea, yeah
In the saddle with cyclenix is where I will be
Out in the sun
(on the boardwalk) We'll be having some fun
(on the boardwalk) People cycling along
(on the boardwalk) We'll be chatting again
(on the boardwalk) Yeah
