After an absence of over two months I returned to ride with Cyclenix today and it was great to see my riding buddies whom I haven’t seen for so long.
15 of us met at our usual starting point in Ra’anana at 6.30am to make an early start to try and beat the heat.
The route we took had a bit of everything, including some very thick sandy passages. The photos show it all. The e-bikes of Yossie, Ted and yours truly really proved their worth traversing the sandy patches.
The group never made its usual “breakfast stop” and we covered just on 30 kms. That the very hot weather gave us a miss was indeed very fortunate.
Now, a personal comment. My return to the group was in a way an exploratory ride to see if I was ready to return. The COVID19 is still rife and there are still restrictions in place, one of which is “social distancing”. These restrictions are there for the safety of ALL of us, and non-observance, endangers not only oneself , but everyone else as well. As the photos show, our riders pay little or no attention to “social distancing” and behave as though the times are normal so, unfortunately, I am not yet ready to return to the group. When we have bade farewell to the Coronavirus (something that we all want), or the group has decided to observe the rules I will be back. Believe me, there is nothing that I enjoy more that cycling with good friends and a fun breakfast at the end of the ride, but, I, personally am not prepared to jeopardise my well-being.
